Fractured Atlas is a rapidly growing, national non-profit organization that provides infrastructure for the cultural sector. All of our programs, services, and back-office operations are managed through a sprawling system of custom-built code (almost all PHP) that automates processes and integrates databases.
We’re looking for someone to take over maintenance of the existing code base and assume responsibility for new development. Almost all of our software deals with business logic that is highly specific to Fractured Atlas. We’re not writing generic CMS stuff; we’re writing software that, say, manages and automates the entire lifecycle of an insurance policy application and purchase. For that reason, we need someone who has a broad enough perspective and knowledge base to develop a deep understanding of all of those business processes and organizational needs.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL
• PHP 5 expertise
• Familiarity with major design patterns
• Deep understanding of MVC pattern in the context of a web application
HIGHLY VALUABLE
• Knowledge of Doctrine ORM (v1)
• Experience writing web services clients and services
• Excellent communicator
• Experience with other programming languages, especially Ruby and Java
• General IT background (e.g. networking, HTTP, Linux server administration, MySQL administration)
BONUS POINTS
• Experience with service oriented architecture
